Delay Room Home

The idea for Delay Room started way back in 2000 when Gary Murphy and Jon Kirby wrote the song Lost.It wasn't until four years later that they decided to write and record an album.

After recording another six songs then scrapping them, Delay Room finally started work in earnest. This involved consuming a lot of pizza, late nights, red wine and tea (Not in that particular order though!).

Simon Kirby came on board as bassist to compliment the original Delay Room line up of Gary Murphy (Vocals), Jon Kirby (Lead Guitars), Michael Jones (Rythym Guitars) and Weird Mark (Drums).

After five or six gigs, the debut album 'The Burning Truth' was released at the start of 2006. After a busy year of gigging and demoing, Weird Mark was asked to leave the band and replaced by Ian Tidey of local band 'The Counterfeit Notes'. A busy start to 2007 saw hardly a weekend where Delay Room were not gigging somewhere when in June of that year, Simon Kirby announced he was leaving for pastures new.

His replacement Mike Ackley was recruited and the band continued on until the November of 2007 when Mike spontaneously combusted on stage...... 2008 saw the band back in rehearsals with new member Andy Taylor on Bass (This is sounding a bit Spinal Tap.....), when Ian Tidey had a horrendous motorbike crash which saw him out of action for most of that year.

Gary and Jon continued writing and recording new material until Ian was fit to drum and rehearsals again commenced in October 2008 with Chris Hudson on Bass (This is definitely Spinal Tap!). When Michael Jones announced his departure, Delay Room decided to take a break for a while.

2009 into 2010 saw Jon and Gary again recording material for the new album and the album is now halfway completed with a general release date for November 2010.

Delay Room is also pleased to announce the joining of two new members, Andy Forrest (KevlarRed, Summer Indoors), on Keyboards and Dave Davey (Werthers Originals), on Bass. With gigs being now booked for 2010 and more to come, Delay Room are back!
